The article presents a systematization, comprehensive analysis, and comparison of the key categories of the rehabilitation process, including intervention, method, methodology, technique, protocol, program, and means. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to standardize educational and methodological materials for the training of physical therapist assistants and occupational therapy assistants in order to ensure effective interprofessional collaboration.
Based on a literature review, the main rehabilitation interventions within the health care system were identified, namely: physical and rehabilitation medicine (PRM), physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), speech and language therapy (SLT), psychological support, prosthetics and orthotics, and the provision of assistive rehabilitation devices and medical products. A comparative analysis was conducted to identify both unique and shared methods characteristic of each intervention.
A clear distinction is proposed between the concepts of intervention (a targeted service or event), method (an abstract approach or system of principles), and methodology (an algorithmized system of actions), with clarification of their hierarchical relationships. Key methodologies were systematized to ensure an accurate understanding of the differences between rehabilitation interventions, methods, and means.
The conclusions confirm that clear identification of methodologies and means is critically important for the proper recognition and effective implementation of rehabilitation interventions within the professional competencies of specialists, serving as a foundation for the standardization of educational programs.
